RETREAT OF THE COOL IN THE SOUTH.
The formerly known Praia do Forte, in the northern part of Santa Catarina Island, also known as Florianópolis, after a buy-sell-buy, had its land acquired by the real estate firm Jurerê, which named the beach after its name, which comes from Y-Jurerê-Mirim, the name that the Carijós gave to the strait river confluence that extends to the Island.
A few years later, a large real estate developer acquired an area, incorporated some existing condominiums (including one designed by architect Oscar Niemayer), and built a very high standard condominium, two hotels, and an open-air mall there. To differentiate from its neighbor, the area was named Jurerê Internacional.
The Jurerê Praia Hotel, built in 1980, then became the landmark of division: on one side of the same strip of sand lies Jurerê Tradicional, still with the FEATURES of a local community, with fishermen, commerce and one of the best rays for water sports; on the other, Jurerê Internacional, urbanistically planned to preserve the environment, with wonderful mansions, two 5-star hotels, beach clubs, and much, much sophistication.
